In my last few years of experimenting with different nature activities, camping has captured me the most by far. I have alternated different things such as rock climbing, cliff diving, rowing, hiking, and camping. My first time camping was when i was ten.
I was frightened by the fact that i was going to be sleeping outside with strangers even tho i (reluctantly) agreed to go. The travel to the camp site was a couple hours away but i distinctly remembered praying that something might happen so that i may be with my mom and not go to this ridiculous camp. During my two week stay at the camp i immediately feel in love with it. The camp counselors, the campfires, the traditions, and the food. The routine was quite simple: Wake up make breakfast, learn nature skills, explore, make dinner, and sleep. The two weeks of camping opened the beginning of a different chapter in my life.
It was many years after that i signed up for the Student Conservation Association. The summer with SCA ('09) was excellent! My summer was spent digging water logs to be replaced with new, build/repair trails, and Camp.
On the last week we spent it in Virginia camping. It was during that time that i found out what i loved to do.
I love to spend my evenings staring at the sun set before my eyes.
I love to wake up and not knowing who I'm going to meet.
I love to be able to wake up and go to the beach with my friends.
I love the summer.
I love Camping.
Such Times when i thought i was dreaming I wasn't. I know that i can look forward to many summer ahead of me - Such Times when...
